Who knew a quick Bumble date over chips and queso would turn into hours of laughter, stories—and eventually— an upcoming wedding in Cancun, Mexico?

Eight years ago, we met at a bustling Mexican restaurant, where a simple dinner turned into something unforgettable. After hours of getting to know each other, we figured we would eat something besides apps. By the time we were ready to order, the restaurant was closing. Our conversation was cut short that night but it never really ended.

From that first date, we spent most of our free time together, exploring Atlanta like two tourists: picnics in Piedmont Park, long walks on the Beltline, and late-night dive-bar wings at The Local. Even mundane moments felt special—like the night we sat side by side on a creaky wooden swing under a starry sky, talking for hours about our dreams while time faded away. That night, it was clear to both of us that this was something special.

For the last seven years, we’ve supported each other's dreams, discovered endless new music, survived a pandemic, and pushed each other to grow while staying grounded in what matters most: faith, family, and finding joy—even in life's simplest moments.

The Proposal

For several months, David had been secretly working with a jeweler on a custom-designed ring. He wanted to give Tyler something "timeless," not trendy. Once the ring was complete, David kept the gem carefully hidden for months while waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question. The perfect moment finally came during Tyler’s birthday trip to Charleston.

Being notorious for forgetting to take pictures on vacation, part of the weekend was set aside for capturing memories. The original plan was to hire a photographer, but coming from a marketing background, Tyler insisted on a DIY photoshoot—because “hiring a photographer for a boyfriend and girlfriend shoot was way too cringy”. So Tyler purchased a camera and set it up night before.

The next day brought the two to a windy seawall and promenade in Charleston, South Carolina. While Tyler worked to find the right location, David suggested the two film a confessional-style “memory video” before starting the photoshoot. Thinking little of the gesture, Tyler pressed record with her bluetooth remote.

The camera rolled, and David began to ask her questions. One-by-one, David asked Tyler to recall the milestone dates of their past as the camera rolled. July 18th, our first date. August 10th, the day things became official.

Then David got down on one knee and said, “When did we get engaged?” The answer was that day, October 17, 2023.

Now, as we plan our cliffside wedding in Mexico on November 2, 2025, life feels like it’s come full circle—from sharing chips and salsa on a hot summer afternoon to sharing “I do's” under a hot Caribbean sun, surrounded by the people we love most. We can’t wait for what’s next—building a family, creating a legacy, and always finding joy in life's meaningful moments.
